It’s not a good season for Grigorij Laguta. Firstly, the injury before the season, then problems with starts in Polish club and lately, when it seemed that everything started to go well for Russian, his leg is injured again. As he says, he came back too quickly on a track but he won’t make the same mistake again. On the 6th of July he will be replaced by Maksim Bogdanovs.
- Grigorij, first of all, how do you feel?
- Generally I fell okay (laugh). I’m after the operation. In two weeks time I have an appointment with the doctor and then we will find out if it’s getting better.
- So, at this moment, it’s difficult to say when you come back to speedway…
- Yes, exactly. At this moment nothing is known because, as I said, I will be able to say more in two weeks time, after the appointment.
- So definitely it’s impossible for you to start during the first round of SEC…
- Yes, it’s totally impossible, I would even say that there is no chance to take part in first two rounds. What next, we will see.
- While you were riding cross before the season the same foot got injured. Didn’t you come back on a track to early then?
- The same my doctor said (laugh). It seems that I wasn’t one hundred percent ready then to come back and now the same leg suffered.
- Do you feel a little depressed? This season is really unlucky for you…
- Unfortunately in sport sometimes is like that. I’m rather not depressed. I’ve accepted all this things – I won’t take part in some matches and tournaments but what can I do? I can’t turn back the time. I’m sure that I won’t make the same mistake again and I will come back on a track when the doctor says that I can do that.
- Will you be following the rivalry in Speedway European Championships?
- Well of course I will watch the tournaments if I am able to.
- How do you think – who is the main candidate to win?
- It’s difficult to say. To be honest, I haven’t been thinking about it at all because I was supposed to take part in this tournament and then I got injured and now I’m a little bit outside of all of it.
