Jarosław Hampel is back into international-level racing in a big style. Double vice-champion of the world won the first round of Speedway Euro Championship 2017, starting with a "wild card".
Hampel is the second rider in SEC history, who won the round in which he started with a "wild card". Krzysztof Kasprzak made it as the first - took his chance in 2013 in Gorican after getting 15 points inlcluding 4 individual heat wins.
First round of SEC 2017 was special for Hampel, because it was his first international meeting after a long break, caused by complicated thigh injury. It made him unable to start for a year.
- To win the opening round of European Championship is something truly amazing. I wanted to race at high level and so I did. As I mentioned before, I was about to take this chance - Hampel said.
At Motoarena, rider of the Polish National Team got 14 points. Thanks to his good performance in the main series, Hampel secured his spot for the final, where he left no doubts at all and grabbed the ultimate win. His recent performances has been proving that Hampel's comeback to the world's top seem very very real and close.
- I had a proper, solid preparation for this meeting and it was a good one. This win makes me very happy. Every heat won is crucial for me - Individual Polish Champion 2011 added.
