The competition in Güstrow was very successful for Andzejs Lebedevs. The Latvian finished third and stood on the podium of the TAURON SEC round for the first time since 2017.
The Individual European Champion from nearly six years ago, scored precious points in each of his races, and these gave him an advance to the 'last-chance heat'. In this one, Lebedevs crossed the finish line as first, and earned a promotion to the grand finale. Despite a successful start from gate A, the Latvian finished the last race of the day on third position.
- I am one hundred percent satisfied that I managed to return to the podium. To be honest, I forgot what it feels like, and it's great. I missed the adrenaline and stress of riding in the final. I am very happy. - said the rider with the funny nickname 'Barney'.
In his interview, Lebedevs pointed out the peculiarities of the track, which changed its characteristics and placing of the fast lines over the course of the competition.
- The track was really special. We had a lot of paths to overtake. The optimal lines changed depending on the phase of the competition. Adjusting the equipment was quite a problem for our team. It was hard for us to find the correct settings - the Latvian admitted.
After two rounds of this year's TAURON SEC, Lebedevs is third in the interim classification with 19 points on his account. The Latvian has a good chance to hang another Individual European Championship medal around his neck after a six-year break.
- Today was almost perfect. I am happy with the result. I return home with a grin on my face - he finished.
