TAURON SEC for the tenth time in Güstrow

After an exciting opening round held two weeks ago at the Bydgoszcz track, it’s time for more thrills with the TAURON SEC 2025. This time, the championship of the Old Continent heads to Güstrow, where the Speedway Euro Championship round will take place for the tenth time.

TAURON Speedway Euro Championship first came to Plauer Chaussee 4 a decade ago, in 2014. Since then - except for the 2015 and 2020 seasons - the Individual European Championship round has been held here every year. Over these years, the venue has gained an impressive reputation, and the crowds in the stands are treated to phenomenal shows each time.

Güstrow holds a special place for Andžejs Lebedevs. It was right here, eleven years ago, that the two-time Individual European Champion made his debut in the Speedway Euro Championship. Last year the Latvian was almost flawless, taking first place and making a huge leap towards the Individual European Champion title that he later secured.

What does a rider do when things aren’t going well on the German oval? Better call Janusz Kołodziej! He’s the only rider who has won at least two rounds here, achieving this in 2022 and 2023. Interestingly, during those two tournaments, the Polish rider dropped only three points. Leon Madsen has also always been effective in Güstrow. The two-time Individual European Champion finished second on the podium in four rounds - during the years 2018–2021 and again in 2024.

Only once in the history of rounds held at this venue has a local rider stood on the podium. Nine years ago, after the event was cut short after five series due to rain, Kai Huckenbeck finished third. The regular participant in the FIM SGP 2025 cycle has finished in the top six on four occasions but has never reached the final race. Nevertheless, 'Hucki' remains the only German to have finished on the Individual European Championship podium here.

The leader of the series after the first round in Bydgoszcz is Patryk Dudek. Words can hardly describe the current form of 'Duzers'. From the start of the season, the Pole has been at the very top of the global ranks. His starts from the gate, speed on the track, and - most importantly - his effectiveness make a huge impression. For the bronze medalist from four years ago, the victory in Bydgoszcz marked his first-ever Speedway Euro Championship round win. There’s no point pretending - Dudek is the main favorite to win today’s competition.

Right behind him, with the same number of points in the provisional TAURON SEC 2025 standings is Kacper Woryna. The current bronze medalist of the championship is showing that he can repeat that success this year. Among the favorites for today’s race, Andžejs Lebedevs, Leon Madsen, and Michael Jepsen Jensen must also be mentioned. We shouldn’t forget about Kai Huckenbeck, who - with the support of German fans - could deliver an unforgettable show tonight.
