On September 19, the best riders in Europe will arrive in the capital of the Podkarpackie region. The city will host the third - and penultimate -round of the Speedway Euro Championship, the series that will determine the best speedway rider in Europe for the 2026 season.
Rzeszów has already hosted an event of this caliber once before. The SEC series visited the city in 2013. Back then, Martin Vaculik felt right at home on the track at 69 Hetmańska Street. The Slovak rider became the first competitor in history to win an SEC round with a perfect score of 18 points from six heats, which secured him the European Championship title. Joining him on the podium were Grigorij Laguta and Hans Andersen. The Russian rider eventually finished the SEC season in third place overall, while the silver medal went to Nicki Pedersen.
At this point, six riders are already confirmed for the championship series. These include last season’s medalists: Patryk Dudek, Andzejs Lebedevs, and Leon Madsen, as well as the remaining riders who finished in the top six last season: Kacper Woryna, Nazar Parnitskyi, and Michael Jepsen Jensen.
The next six permanent participants will be determined on June 13 in Lonigo, during the SEC Challenge tournament. Among the riders competing in Italy there will be Rasmus Jensen of Denmark, currently the most successful rider for ZKS Tal Rzeszów team in the Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga.
In addition, three wild cards for the entire series will be awarded. The regulations also allow for one additional wild card to be granted for each individual tournament.
Tickets for the third round of this year’s SEC series have just gone on sale.
