'Piter' is right before his a debut in this year's TAURON SEC series, which, due to injury, will only take place in the third round. What mindset is he approaching the rest of the season with, and what is the reason for his phenomenal form?
Piotr, right at the start, I want to ask about your health, which has really been through a lot in recent weeks.
- It's very good now, thank you. It took some time for me to get back to racing, but I had a very complicated rib injury, which, as we know, doesn't heal very quickly. I wanted to return to competition at a moment when I wouldn’t feel any discomfort while riding. At the match in Częstochowa, after trying the track, I decided not to race—not because I wasn’t physically or mentally ready, but because I felt some discomfort. So I chose to rest a bit more. Now I am ready to compete. Speedway riders have a different kind of 'pain threshold,' so to speak; after several injuries, we know ourselves when something is serious and when it’s less so.
This season, both you and your older brother Przemysław have been performing excellently on speedway tracks. What are the reasons for this? Have there been any significant changes in your teams before the season?
- Basically, we didn’t change anything drastically. There were only minor details, which I’d prefer to keep to myself. Nevertheless, that’s how speedway is nowadays. Small details sometimes decide success. We continue to work with our mechanics to maintain the level we have returned to for as long as possible.
The track in Leszno is conducive to fast racing. Is there a chance that the fans will see an exciting event?
- Absolutely. The track Leszno is definitely for battling. If conditions allow and the organizers prepare it properly, it will be an exciting race with plenty of action. Ultimately, that’s what it’s all about—to ensure that fans at the stadium and watching on TV witness interesting and thrilling racing.
