For the young German hope, this is the second season in a row participating as a permanent rider in the Old Continent’s championship. In the five rounds of the Speedway Euro Championship held so far, he has scored a total of 18 points.
Norick, because of an injury you were forced to withdraw from the opening round of this year's series, so this weekend's event will mark the start of your competition in TAURON SEC 2025. What mindset are you approaching the round that takes place in your home country? Do you have a main goal guiding your participation in the Speedway Euro Championship?
- I want to perform as best as possible in front of my own fans. The track is very technical and I enjoy racing on it, which was best demonstrated recently at the German Pokal event, where I lost only to Nicki Pedersen. As for my goals in this year’s series, I am mainly focused on gaining experience. I am a young rider and I need to get as much racing time as possible. Competing at such a high level with the best riders from across Europe only works to my advantage.
Is the TAURON SEC round in Güstrow a promotion for the slowly reviving German speedway scene?
- Absolutely. Step by step, German speedway is returning to its glory days. There are more and more young riders racing in different classes. I hope we are going in the right direction, and I want to be a part of this development.
Did you have or do you still have any sporting idols whom you modeled yourself after or still do?
- Definitely Nicki Pedersen has been my idol since I started with speedway. His professionalism, toughness, and confidence are qualities I admire and try to emulate. Another rider I look up to is Emil Sayfutdinov, from whom I also appreciate his professionalism and incredible ridding style.
