Nicki Pedersen winner of the first round of this year’s Speedway European Championships series – shouted headlines of internet portals and newspapers. Dane started fight for European Champion title in Gustrow perfectly. It was the place where on the 6th July fifteen riders of Europe started the season.

The riders who showed up in Gustrow were only complaining about the weather. There was really great heat in Germany and the temperature in the sun reached 40 Celsius degrees. In such conditions the riders appeared on the track to know its paths. European Champion, Martin Vaculik went as the first. Just after him appeared Maksim Bogdanows. Vaculik was pleased with his bike and he was also happy with the interest for speedway in Germany.

Just after the official training session there was a huge storm, which reduced dust which was everywhere, at the stadium However 24 hours later it was necessary to deal with heat again. Nicki Pedersen did it the best and he had quite certain victory in German SEC round.

- It’s unbelievable feeling. Last time I was riding here fifteen years ago. When you ride in front of full stadium, you have new energy and you want to win at once. I’m very happy and I’m going to Togliatti for another points. – said just after receiving the cup Nicki Pedersen.

The tournament wasn’t successful for Martin Vaculik, who was defending the title. Slovak didn’t win any heat and he was only tenth with seven points scored. Adrian Miedziński was also close to the final but because of the crash in his last heat he didn’t have this chance – Tomasz Gollob qualified instead of him.

- It’s a pity that I didn’t qualify to the final because it was really close. I felt really well from the very beginning. In my last heat Emil Sajfutdinow and Janusz Kołodziej rode quite wide and simply I didn’t have space. Fortunately everything is all right and I will definitely fight in Togliatti.

After the first round we had two leaders – Nicki Pedersen and Janusz Kołodziej scored 14 points. Togliatti was already waiting on the horizon…
