Andzejs Lebedevs is one of three wild card holders to start in Speedway Euro Championship 2016. Young and talented Latvian proved in the first round that he is able to reach a lot, so before the second round in his hometown - Daugavpils, he was put among the favourites to stand on the rostrum. That evening though did not belong to him. Maybe, the third round will be a breakthrough.
Nearly 22-year-old rider performed well in Daugavpils, presenting some spectacular racing, fought and was engaged into many actions at the track, but despite that, he was feeling slightly different than usual, at the track he knows very well.
- It was a tough day. Track was slick and this time, lanes did not fit me - said Latvian fans' favourite. - In my last heat, ignition burnt. Engine was not working the way it should have and at the last lap, it went off. That is it. I couldn't fight with the rivals. I missed some points. It's a pity.
Just to remind that in the inaugural round in Güstrow, young Latvian won his first heat in the history of his starts in Speedway Euro Championship and was counting on way more in Daugavpils. However, another wins did not come.
- It's a disappointment. I was counting on much more - said right after finishing the rivalry. - In Daugavpils, I felt this fantastic support from my fans. I would like to apologize them. Sorry and thank you at the same time that they filled this stadium. Now I cannot change anything, so we're going further. After all, it's not the end of the world.
In Daugavpils, Lebedevs got 7 points - one less than in Güstrow. With 15 points reached, he is currently 10th overall, however, he already has got a plan to improve.
- Work, work, work - says Latvian. I made some changes with my equipment not to fail in the next round. I have been gaining precious experience and after Daugavpils, I got some conclusions too. I know why in my last heat, I did not have contact with rivals and what I was doing well in the previous ones.
Next stop for SEC comes on this Saturday in Togliatti. Andzejs Lebedevs counts that in Russia, there will be huge emotions coming.
- I have been racing in Togliatti few times. Track is great, so I think there will be some great racing, as good as in Daugavpils - thinks Pajaja. - I am sure that fans will witness a spectacular show. In every heat, there should be many shoulder to shoulder fight. I just hope that my start in Togliatti will look that way, I will fight and get more points than in Latvia.
