Before the inaugural meeting of Speedway Euro Championship in Güstrow, he got the wild card from the organizers. Beginning of the meeting was tough, but in the second part, he found the right rhythm and amazed German fans. In the end, he had luck and this local hero stood at the podium.

At the beginning of the meeting, rain started. With every next heat, track in Güstrow had been changing its characteristics comparing to the practice session that we had on noon. In the first series of starts, it was the change of the surface that caused most issues to the riders.

- I had a bad beginning. The weather was changing and track became slimy. It was tough to get the proper speed and lead the bike. After two starts, I changed my bike - said Kai Huckenbeck, who was one position above from the bottom after 8 heats. - This was a bull's eye. With the fans' support, I managed to find the right setup and everything changed.

Representative of the hosts won another 2 heats and quickly advanced to the 5th position. At the end, he added two points and ended the main series at the third place.

In the last chance heat, Huckenbeck finished behind the back of Janusz Kołodziej and Przemysław Pawlicki and did not go through to the final.

- I had a lot of luck, because I did not qualify to the final, but even though, because of the meeting's regulations, I stood on the podium - said the fans' favourite. - It was a great evening in Güstrow. This place, this stadium and these fans - they were all fantastic.
