Many experts think, that if it wasn't for the injury, Emil Sayfutdinov would have not two, but three Individual European Champion titles. Will Russian make the history and become the most award-winning rider in 2016?
In 2013, Sayfutdinov made the triumph in Gdańsk and Togliatii. When everyone thought that golden medal is a sure shot, an injury happened, which crossed plans of this young and ambitious rider. He lost his chances for both world championship and the European one.
What's interesting, throughout these three years in Speedway Euro Championship, Emil Sayfutdinov ended his heat as the last only once! That situation happened in the 13th heat of inaugural SEC round in Gdańsk (2013). One year later, he was excluded twice, but when he was reaching the finish line, it was always on the pointed position.
With every next year, Sayfutdinov gathers more and more points. In 2013, because of that injury, it was only 27, one year later - 54 and in the past series - 58. This result could be even better if it wasn't for the shoulder injury, caught after one of the heats in the final round in Ostrów Wielkopolski.
Right now, Sayfutdinov's got two golden medals and places ex-equo at first place in the overall classification along with Matej Zagar, who got his medals during the one-day finals, before implementing the new formula.
Will anyone make the history in 2016 and will pass the magic border of 60 points?
