Emil Sayfutdinov needed four heats in Ostrów Wielkopolski to secure the second individual European Championship. When after the 14th heat, he crossed the finish line as first, he could raise his hands high in the gesture of triumph. It all started kind of patchy, though. In his first start, he had to accept superiority of the local rider, Mr Wild Card - Mateusz Szczepaniak. In his second heat, it was even worse - ended at the third position. Then, changes in the set-ups were made.
Two next starts were Emil's domination. 14th heat, mentioned before turned out to be a very lucky one for Russian. Right after the finish line, Emil raised his hands. He knew he could start the celebration after reaching the second in a row champion title. While going down to the pits, he fell into his team members' arms and his friends from the track. During the triumphant joy, unexpected things happened. His shoulder dislocated and he he had to leave the stadium and go to the hospital. Of course, there was no such thing as further riding and everyone at the stadium was wondering whether Russian will appear at the decoration.
Luckily, local doctors made a quick and effective treatment and after more than dozen of minutes, Sayfutdinov came back to the pits. At the podium, he appeared with a special shirt "Get Well Darcy" and dedicated his success to the injured Australian. Second gold caused that Sayfutdinov equaled the Matej Zagar's achievement (who also got 2 golden medals). Will Emil make a hat-trick in 2016?
