Started his career at minitracks (speedway dedicated to the riders under 16 y.o.) and in 1995 became the Individual Danish Champion. One year later, he was titled as the Junior Danish Champ, but at the classic tracks. In 2013, he got himself right behind the podium of the European Championship and didn't get the promotion to the following series. And this season, it was slightly worse.
Hans Andersen got a great performance during SEC Challenge at Motoarena in Toruń. Second place reached, after additional heat, gave a strong hope for a good performance in the main series. Unfortunately, only two weeks later, it was not that good. Andersen couldn't handle the different surface and finished the meeting only with 2 points. The thing is Speedway Euro Championship promotes regularity. Fighting for the highest aims requires getting solid amount of points from the very beginning. Dane, however, found himself in trouble after brutal clash with reality during the first round.
Next rounds were decent for the "Ugly Duck". In Bavarian Landshut, Andersen was only one step away from advancing to the race-off heat. With 9 points reached, Hans finished as 7th (one place behind these giving promotion). His performance was really good though and many observers saw there the rider, who was really close to the World Championship medal back in the days.
In Kumla, Andersen had some ups and downs, and what comes after that is no spark next to his name. It was totally different in Ostrów Wielkopolski, where he got 8 points after crossing the finish line twice as the first. Three solid performances is still not enough to fight for the permanent membership in next year's cycle.
If Andersen had gathered a bit more points in Toruń, he would have fought for the TOP5. Meanwhile, he's left with another chance to fight for promotion for the next year. We all know it well that he'll not give up and do his best to join SEC Family in 2016.
