Right after first, inaugural round of Speedway European Championships, we noticed the fact that Nicki Pedersen's win can make him worry a bit. As it turned out, in fact, triumph in Toruń did not bring the ultimate goal and Dane didn't become the European Champion.
In 2013, Emil Sayfutdinov took the inaugural round in Gdańsk as well as the next one in Togliatti. After all, Russian didn't reach the European Champ's crown, because of injury he got during the meeting in Poland, even though he had a significant advantage over the others and was a clear favourite to get this title.
It was nearly the same in 2014, when Nicki Pedersen started his road to glory from winning in Guestrow and Togliatti. Unfortunately, Dane couldn't seal the deal in front of his home crowd in Holsted, which made him forget about the dream of gold.
On June 20, Pedersen won in Toruń again, however he did not lead the overall classification (Emil Sayfutdinov had a 1 point more).
Who wins the first round, doesn't reach the title? Seems like a rule! Despite the fact that Pedersen was on the rostrum after every round, he couldn't grab golden medal from Emil Sayfutdinov.
Will 2016 season be a breakthrough and will let the first round's winner reach the ultimate win in whole series?
