Would you agree with the statement that competition in Kumla may appear crucial? It will be in Sweden much to gain, but also a lot to lose ... Last year during the third round of SEC in Holsted you obtained an advantage that allowed you to win the gold medal. Do you think there is a chance for a repeat in Kumla?
- It will definitely be hard because every rider rides in order to score a lot of points. Last year I was able to achieve a safe advantage, I hope that this will be the same. We'll see, maybe after Kumla I will be calm and I will start in the competition in Ostrow realxed. For sure I want to get the most out of these event to make my job easier in Ostrow.
In the last match in Sweden, in Kumla you presented yourself really great ...
- It was a very good meeting for me. I felt good speed, practically everywhere where I was riding, I felt fast. My bike was very well prepared, and I'll just used it. This track allows for a cool fight like this in Torun. I hope that during the round of SEC I will have a similar result as in the league match.
In the past, you defended the title of Individual World Championship U21, now you have the chance to repeat this feat in European championship. What is harder? Win for the first time, whether to repeat the success a year later?
- Defending the title is definitely harder. I remember that in World Championship U21, the second time I lost starts and all the points I had to fight hard over a distance. Will I defend the title of European champion? We'll see ... Surely I am a little older, I have more experience, more mental toughness. First of all, you need have bikes well adjusted, because without it, it is hard to gain any points, and hence medals. I want to just have fun with riding speedway.
It seems that you will fight for the gold medal with Nicki Pedersen. Would you rather have at this stage a few points of advantage more, or maybe it gives you power, that you feel his breath on your backs?
- Frankly, I focus on my riding. I try to do my job, scoring points in every race. This is a subject for fans so they could talk about the situation in the championship, but I do not worry, all the time I do my job and consistently strive for the goal. However, I do not hide that I would love to defend the European champion title. If I fail, there will not be a tragedy, but I promise that I will do everything to gold medal come to me again. I have a positive attitude and I feel more and more power.
In the SEC you have been riding since the very beginning. Many people say that this season is most equal and at the same time the hardest. Would you agree with this statement?
- It is certainly harder. Most riders start every day in Polish Extraleague, and there are the best speedway riders in the world. With such rivals it is not easy for points. If I had to compare, last year it was also hard for a medal, but this year the line – up is even stronger, which is good for the level of the competition. It seems to me that it might be even stronger than the one in which riders fight for the title of champion of the world. We have only four rounds, and in each one you must give maximum to fight for victory. There are no many rounds, so you can’t make up any drawback in any event. Here you have to ride always at 100 percent, if you want to win the most valuable trophies.
