The second edition of PGE International Individual Championship of Ekstraliga ended with the victory of Grigory Laguta. In the grand finale, "Grisha" defeated Piotr Pawlicki and Greg Hancock. Martin Vaculik finished the meeting fourth.
The competition started badly for the eventual winner. After the first two races, Russian had only one point on his account. Later starts of a rider, who every day is racing in Speedway European Championships, however, were phenomenal and made the fans at the stadium in Leszno standing applauded his ride. It is worth noting that Grigory Laguta scored only seven points in the whole competition.
It is also worth to emphasize that apart from Laguta four more permanent participants of SEC took part in the competition. Martin Vaculik after the regular phase had 11 points on his account and qualified directly to the final. In it, however, he did not have too many arguments and because of that he took place behind the podium.
In the second semi-final Emil Sayfutdinov was eliminated. The current champion of Europe in the last meters was defeated by later winner. In that race Nicki Pedersen, who in the last race of regular phase clipped the rear wheel of Emil Sayfutdinov and with full impetus hit the track. Dane went down the track on his own but later withdrew from his heat.
Peter Kildemand started very regularly. Six times he reached the finish line second but it was not enough to qualify to the grand finale. The last place with one point took Paweł Przedpełski, who in the inaugural tournament of SEC in Torun stood on the podium in the second place. Przedpełski’s result can, however, be explained with injury with which he started.
