Tomasz Gollob, the best Polish rider in the history surprised everybody in Landshut where he presented great speed and form. He missed only some luck to win the event, to be precise, goodwill of the referee.
The regular phase was almost great for Pole. Apart from the engine failure in one heat, when he had flat tyre, he won other with a great ease and he beat the best riders of Europe. He went to the final with no problems after the attack on Przemysław Pawlicki in the twentieth heat.
The final itself seemed unlucky for “Skinny”. After the start his bike hooked with Nicki Pedersen’s bike and this enabled riding of both riders. Pedersen fell on the track and Gollob came back to the pits just after this event. Finally Gollob was found guilty of this whole accident although experts opted for a re – run in the full line – up.
“Mr. referee I won the start and I was half a bike in front. I was dictating the conditions and it’s really not my fault than Nicki (Pedersen) fell. You took me the final, thank you very much” – said by a phone Tomasz Gollob who was clearly disappointed.
However, after the two rounds Polish World Champion is on the fourth place in the series and has real chance for a medal of Individual European Championships. What is important – the first one! Will he manage to do that? We invite you to vote in the survey on the website www.speedwayeuro.com
