After one year break Americans, who are led by World Champion Greg Hancock, are coming back to struggle for the title of the best speedway pair in the world. Will riders from the United States be able to make a surprise and make the task more difficult for the best national teams in the world?!
The team from the United States is coming back after one year break to racing in Speedway Best Pairs Cup. The captain of the team will be of course World Champion 2014, Greg Hancock. “Herbie”, although is 45 years old still reminds this young boy who started his career over twenty years ago. Hancock will be surely a great authority for his teammates with whom he will take part as a permanent participant in this year’s edition of SBPC.
In 2013 “Yankees” took the seventh place during one day tournament at MotoArena in Toruń. Then it was Greg Hancock who scored 20 points for the USA team. His teammate, although was very ambitious, didn’t manage to score any point and Americans were last because of that. Let’s remind that then for a win in a heat a rider received four points. After the two years we decided to change the formula and come back to traditional “speedway” scores. The first rider at the finish line gets 3 points, the second – 2, the third – 1 and the last one – 0. It doesn’t mean of course that there is no need to cooperate with teammate at the highest level to win in an event.
Greg Hancock is quite familiar with the track in Toruń because he rides there usually a few times in a season – during league matches and individual tournaments. However it should be remembered that in Speedway Best Pairs Cup individual points are not as important as points of the whole team. Even in case of a draw in a better situation are those who were second and third and scored so called bonus point.
It is clearly seen that on the 28th March at MotoArena in Toruń there will be emotions and great tournament. The best riders in the world cooperating with each other on a track – it has to be seen.
The organizers have prepared really attractive ticket prices for fans. The cheapest ones for the inaugural event in the international calendar cost only 15 PLN!
