Janusz Kołodziej was fifth in Speedway European Championships series and as a result he has become the last rider who kept up in European championship and next season will start in the series under the auspices of One Sport.
Koldi started the struggle for the title really well because in Gustrow he was third scoring as many points as the winner of that tournament Dane Nicki Pedersen. After the first round we had two leaders of the series. Another events weren’t so successful for him.
In Togliatti and Holsted Kołodziej finished his riding on regular phase, he scored six and eight points. A little bit better was in Częstochowa where he qualified to the last chance heat but he didn’t manage to go to the final and despite of the lively support of the fans at the stadium he wasn’t sure of his place in the top five at the end of the season.
This way Janusz Kołodziej is the only Pole who managed to win the place in SEC series for the next season. He was also the best rider from Poland in this year’s rivalry. Fans and the rider surely counted on something more. Before the beginning of the series it had been said that Kołodziej was possible to fight for one of the medals. As it appeared, although he tried very much, he finally was fifth and thanks to it he has the right to start in SEC 2015.
