Peter Kildemand is at the moment the most dangerous rival for Emil Sajfutdinow as far as the gold medal of Individual European Championship is concerned. Dane has really good season and he loses only three points to the Russian. What is more, he is a representative of the local club, Włókniarz and he knows the track very well.
The last tournament of Speedway European Championships is in Częstochowa. Do you think that this is advantage for you?
- Well, it’s difficult to say. It’s my home track in Poland and I fell there really well so this is really big plus for me. However the track in Częstochowa is not new for my rivals so there won’t be any surprise for them. I would say that there is a little advantage for me but it won’t be crucial.
It is said that the track in Częstochowa is great for racing. Do you agree with such opinion?
- Yes, definitely. You can always race there and the track is a guarantee for a great show and this is very important for such event like Speedway European Championships.
At this moment you are the second in general classification and Emil Sajfutdinow’s advantage is not so big. However Russian is in great form. Do you think it is possible to win with him?
- You’re right – Emil is in great form and he is the main candidate for the European Champion title as far as I am concerned. However speedway is sport and everything can happen. Definitely I’ll do my best and if I am lucky I can fight for gold. Surely Emil’s aim is gold but I’m not going to make this task easy for him.
Not so long ago you were injured. Is everything okay now?
- Yes, I feel very well and I can fight for as good score as possible.
However the break in your starts was a little bit longer than you planned…
- That’s true. At the beginning it seemed that such long break won’t be necessary but doctors said that it is better to have longer break and come back because I wanted to avoid any risk. So that was my decision and I don’t regret it. Now I feel really well and I believe that it can help me to have a good score in each start.
For the club from Częstochowa Speedway European Championships final is a chance to improve difficult situation which is there. Do you agree with such statement?
- Of course. Fans are really interested in Speedway European Championships tournaments and I hope that this fact can help the club from Częstochowa. Riders always try to create a good show and fans like it. I believe that this time will be similar and fans will decide to come at the stadium to support us.
Częstochowa is a good place for the last tournament of Speedway European Championships?
- Of course. As we said before on this track you can really race and this is the most important in speedway. Even if you are not successful at start you can still fight for a good score and fans love it. Unfortunately on some tracks when rivals are better at start you can do nothing but in Częstochowa it is different. I am sure that there will be a great show and the track will be prepared as it should be.
As we said, you are fighting for the medal, maybe even gold. But if you don’t win gold but you will win the medal, will you be satisfied?
- Yes. The medal is my aim before the tournament in Częstochowa. I realize that it will be difficult to win gold but I also know that I am rookie in the series and each medal will be a big success for me. Because of that I would like to stand on the podium in Częstochowa and ensure some medal in general classification.
As you said, it is your debut in Speedway European Championships. What do you think about the series?
- Everything is really great. I am very happy that I can be a participant of SEC and thanks to the fact that I am quite successful, it will be possible for me to be a part of the series next season. It is really important for me because Speedway European Championships causes that I am better and better rider. Definitely I am now at the higher level than last season and the experience which I gained during SEC will be priceless in my further career.
