Rune Holta has received the wild card for the Great Final of Speedway European Championships, which takes place on the 19th of September at SGP Arena in Częstochow, from the organizers of SEC. The rider is a representative of local Włókniarz so the knowledge of the track will be his big advantage.
Rune Holta was born in Norway but he has received Polish citizenship. He is fourfold champion of Norway and won Polish championship twice. In Polish league he signed a contract with Morawski Zielona Góra in 1993 but he had the first start in 1994 in GKM Grudziądz. In international events he was a representative of Norway. However in 2005, 2007 and 2010 he represented Poland in
Speedway World Cup and he won gold medal three times.
In 2003 he won Team Polish Championship with Włókniarz Częstochowa and in 2004 and 2005 – bronze medals. On the 1st June 2014 he broke the barrier of 2000 points in Polish highest league(together with bonus points but without points scored as a so called “Joker”). Holta also won Gran Prix round twice. His best season was 2010 when he was just after the podium in general
classification.
This season is the ninth in Włókniarz Częstochowa for him. Holta has always emphasized that he feels really well in the club. He lives in Częstochowa and he is always a strong point of the team. Today’s start in the great final will be his debut in Speedway European Championships but he promises to fight for the best place.
