In a week, on the 9th of August at 3 p. m. in Holsted, Denmark the third round of Individual European Championship starts. The main candidate to win seems to be current leader of the SEC series, Nicki Pedersen, who will start on his home track. Surely the task won’t be easy because of the most dangerous rivals as far as the gold medal is concerned and the wild card, Niels Kristian Iversen.
Points scored at Moldow Speedway Arena can be essential in general classification of the championship. After the two rounds, which were won by Nicki Pedersen, Dane has only one point advantage over Emil Sayfutdinov and four over his compatriot Peter Kildemand. The European Champion has also still a chance to win.
Last year, after the second round of SEC in Togliatti Martin Vaculik lost 8 points to the leader. However finally Slovak managed to win in the whole series thanks to being on the podium in Gorican (3rd round) and the great chase which we saw in Rzeszów (Final Round), where he won all his heats. At this moment, after the two tournaments Martin is fourth and loses only 6 points to the leader Dane – Nicki Pedersen. So there is still a chance to win everything.
Janusz Kołodziej, who had a good day in Gustrow but presented worse in Togliatti, also is going to fight for the podium. Taking into consideration the example of Vaculik, seven point loss is not so big. Also Niels Kritian Iversen, who has received the wild card from the organizers, would like definitely to fight for a good score. Currently Dane is said to be the fastest speedway rider in the world by many experts. We can be sure that “PUK” would like to prove it on the 9th of August.
In the meantime we would like to remind that Danish city Kolding has become an official host city of the third round of SEC. Thanks to the agreement which was signed with One Sport, the city will be seen on promotional and branding materials and can fully use the promotional opportunities which are provided by SEC and transmission on Eurosport. It is Kolding where the whole SEC team and the riders will live.
