It’s the time for the last part of memories from Speedway European Championships. The last part took place 29th of September in Rzeszow on a stadium on the Hetmanska street. Before the event the only candidate for the European Champion title was Dane Nicki Pedersen. However that day was superb for Slovak Martin Vaculik who was unbeaten rider that evening and he gained gold medal of SEC.
That’s truth! Not favored Nicki Pedrsen but Martin Vaculik won the European Champion title. Dane was second and third place was for Grigorij Laguta. The tournament in Rzeszow was the final round of the whole Speedway European Championships series. The whole rivalry started in Gdansk, next was Russian Togliatti and the week ago riders fought in Croatian Gorican. Unfortunately in the tournament in the main city of Podkarpacie region couldn’t take part all the participants. They were eliminated by injuries. Nicki Pedersen ended his participation in the event in the last chance heat. This meant that Vaculik had to score at least one point in the final to gain the title. The last heat in Rzeszow was very emotional. At the end of fist turn Grzegorz Zengota found in a hole and he hit Slovak but fortunately he stayed on his bike. Unfortunately Andresen wasn’t so lucky. Dane hit in the uncontrolled “Zengi’s” bike. Polish was excluded from the restart. Eventually Martin Vaculik won in the final and this way he also won the title. – sportowefakty.pl
Final round of Speedway European Championships in Rzeszow was watched in TV by 7,5 millions people. It was the biggest audience of the whole Speedway European Championships series. During the realization a lot of new things was used like for example shots from the cameras placed on the riders’ helmets, bikes and on the fences. That made the transmission more attractive. – The first season of the new European Champion rivalry showed that it is worth to invest in this project. We’ve already made only the first step and surely we are going to made more surprises because we want to create show on the highest level – said on the official SEC website Karol Lejman from One Sport, organizer of the series. – rzeszow.sport.pl
Martin Vaculik won the last meeting in Rzeszow to clinch the title of European Speedway Champion. It was the first time under a new formula that the European Champion was found. By scoring an immaculate 18 points the cool Slovak achieved what seemed impossible before the meeting, when he was trailing Championship leader, and home track favourite, Nicki Pedersen by 5 points. It didnt come easy because all the meetings are tough competition, not to mention the added tension when it comes to the deciding round. The whole day just clicked for me. I had a great engine which worked great for the track, but what was more significant was how focussed I was on my racing. I rode with a clean head, I had time to focus on the races. I wanted to take it easy and relax, and everything just went perfectly, and I got maximum points, says the newly crowned European Champion. - worldspeedway.com
