Bydgoszcz will host the third round of the TAURON Speedway Euro Championship on September 9. The competition for the title of Individual European Champion returns to the legendary venue after a two-year break. The previous tournaments are best remembered by Leon Madsen, who won both rounds held at the local track.

TAURON Speedway Euro Championship first arrived to the local stadium in 2020. At that time, the series consisted of five rounds, which, due to pandemic restrictions, took place only on Polish tracks.

The first competition in Bydgoszcz was won by Leon Madsen. The Dane presented his best side from the very beginning and despite a small slip-up in heat 14, he could finally enjoy stepping up on the top of the podium. Mikkel Michelsen crossed the finish line second, while Grigorij Laguta was third. Emil Sayfutdinov could be a bit disappointed after his performance in the previous heat. The Russian, who received a 'wild card' for this competition, lost only one point in the regular phase, but in the final he reached the finish line as fourth. The later European champion, Robert Lambert, finished the competition in Bydgoszcz in fifth place.

The second and, so far, the last round of the TAURON SEC held in the largest city of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian voivodeship took place in 2021. Once again, the winner was none other than Leon Madsen. The two-time Individual European Champion had to deal with superfast Piotr Pawlicki in the finals. Although Pawlicki was in first place after the regular phase, he was defeated. Daniel Bewley stood on the lowest step of the podium. The final classification was heavily influenced by the exclusion of Mikkel Michelsen in the final. Two Danes (Michelsen and Madsen) clashed in the last race of the day, and their duel ended with the fall of the winner of TAURON SEC 2018. The 2021 Individual European Champion was almost flawless. The best proof were his 14 points scored in the main phase, which gave him a direct promotion to the final.

Who will perform best in the upcoming competition? Will Leon Madsen win for the third time in Bydgoszcz? One thing is certain, if the Dane wants to make up the nine-point loss to Michelsen, he will have to perform at his best during the upcoming third round of the Individual European Championship.
