The second round of this year's TAURON SEC series, which will take place on the track in Güstrow is just around the corner. Jacek Frątczak spoke about the track specifics in interesting words.
The 298-meters track is in use since 1963. Despite the relatively short straights, the oval is not the easiest one. The dark surface is rarely seen these days, while the starting line, which is located at the exit of the second corner is situated in a truly special way. These are the main factors highlighted by the former trainer of Polish Ekstraliga speedway teams of Zielona Góra or Toruń.
- A very specific track, given that the start/finish line is so close to the exit of the corner. The surface - unfortunately for fans and riders - is black material, similar to that in Stralsund. From the point of view of observers, commentators, spectators, equipment - it is a difficult surface, also in terms of comfort and use. Such tracks are called greasy - Frątczak stresses.
According to our expert, the track in Güstrow promotes fighting over the distance. What can be expected to witness during the second round of the Individual European Championship, which will be held on next Saturday? Frątczak is positive about the level of fighting during the upcoming competition.
- Fortunately, the surface reacts well to water, it drains well. As I mentioned before, we have a specifically located start. It is also worth mention that the distance is shortened very quickly for the rider riding at the inside line. Rivals, although they will ride on a theoretically better line, may be surprised. Especially in the second part of the meeting there should be fast lines behind the center of the track. It allows developing high speed, especially on the first corner. On the second one problem could be the previously mentioned shortening of the racing track to the inside line. The rider who appears faster at the curb should ride effectively. What is important in the context of the show - there is a lot going on at the track in Güstrow. We usually note a lot of overtakes. I expect an interesting competition during the second round of TAURON SEC 2023.
