Tomasz Gollob’s 2013 season is finished. As a result of a serious crash in the Nordic GP at the weekend, the Pole suffered concussion and damage to the 7th cervical vertebrae. The organisers of the Speedway European Championship have confirmed initial reports of Gollob’s length of rehabilitation have been unclear. Reports say it could be anything from two to six months
Gollob was brought down by Tai Woffinden during the first lap of heat 2 in Saturday’s Grand Prix in Stockholm. Riding in third place the Brit lost control and hit the Polish rider. Initially hitting his head on the track, and then receiving a second blow when hit by the motorcycle. Gollob lost conciousness three Times en route to the local hospital.Tai Woffinden also went to the hospital after the event as after the crash with Gollob he was complaining from pain in his collarbone and wrist.
In view of the injury Gollob has no chance of staying in the overall top 3 of the SEC, which would earn him automatic qualification for next year’s series. We all keep our fingers crossed for Tomasz and wish him a speedy recovery. „Rehabilitation has not yet begun so we can’t say when Tomasz will be back on a bike.
