Bydgoszcz will host the second round of TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2020, which will take place on 8th of July. Ticket sales for this event just started.

This season five competition rounds will select the new Individual European Champion. The lineup includes best speedway riders in the world such as Nicki Pedersen, Leon Madsen and Emil Sayfutdinov.

- We are glad that such a place with long and great tradition in Polish speedway as Bydgoszcz will be among the cities to host a round of the Individual European Championships. The competition will take place four days after the first round and the distance between Toruń and Bydgoszcz is logistically convenient for the riders. What’s more important, Bydgoszcz’s track provides a lot of fantastic races - said Karol Lejman, President of One Sport, the promoter of the TAURON SEC series.

Bydgoszcz is a city that has been experiencing a real speedway revival in recent years. The local fans hope that the capital of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship may refer to the period of “golden days” of speedway. Long year speedway fans remember the times well, when this stadium played an important role in the speedway world.

Which name comes to your mind first when you think about Bydgoszcz? There is only one answer among speedway fans. Of course it's Tomasz Gollob. Our expert, Tomasz Lorek, describing the stadium says, that this facility has grown to a mythical status, thanks to Gollob’s success. Probably nobody could put that better in words than Lorek. At the beginning of the 21st century, the audience overfilled the stands, every time there was possibility to watch Gollob’s wins in his unique, excellent style. Many tried to compete with him on his home track, but when he found his path on the outside, usually they didn’t have a chance.

Gollob also took part in the TAURON SEC series, but he didn’t fight for points on the Bydgoszcz track. Kacper Woryna, Bartosz Smektała and Krzysztof Kasprzak will now have their chance to represent Poland on this legendary stadium.

The second round of TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2020 will take place in Bydgoszcz, on 8th of July at 7 PM. Tickets for this event are available via eBilet.pl.

PATRICK HANSEN: Pardubice is one of my favourite tracks

Danish rider, Patrick Hansen, will be 23 yrs later this year and is enjoying an impressive start to his 2021 season. He represents Grinsted KS Liga in Denmark, Avesta Masarna in Sweden and Arged Malesa Ostrow in Poland’s eWinner 1 league. In fact, he top-scored in Ostrow’s opening match and was undefeated in their match against Gniezno which was cut short due to bad weather. But the highlight so far occurred on 14 April in Esbjerg, Denmark. That night he surprised many by winning the Danish SGP/ SEC qualifier. It was not only the way he did it that caught people’s attention – he won 4 out of 5 heats – but the riders he beat, including Mikkel Michelsen, Kenneth Bjerre, Jonas Jeppesen and Marcus Birkemose who are all signed with Ekstraliga clubs this year.
