Mikkel Michelsen got the third position in the second round of TAURON Speedway Euro Championship 2018, which was held in Güstrow. What's more, Dane is currently third in the overall classification of the series.
Michelsen so far, has been a sensation of this year's rivalry to become the Individual Speedway European Champion. After his heroic fight in Gniezno, Danish rider once again showed his brilliant skills and in Güstrow he ended the round with no "zero" on his scorechart.
- I had a good start with a race win and then just picked up the points, couldn't really get it working after that first race - we were still scoring points, but you know, it's nice to win the races, not battle too hard. We got it right for the last chance heat, where I got well with Emil (Sayfutdinov),and then in the final, I had gate two, which hasn't been very good tonight, so I just had to make the most of it. We gambled a little bit with the setup and I think it paid off. Now, I'm third overall after two rounds, had 9 points in Gniezno and now 11, so it's an improvement, took a step up on the podium as well, so it was a good round for me - Mikkel Michelsen said.
Next round of the top European riders' clash is going to be taken in Latvia. Daugavpils is the host of European Championship for the second time in history. Michelsen, as he admits, so far has started there only once.
- Only have been there once in my life and it wasn't my best meeting, but this track is pretty cool and with the way I've been going this season and the team I have around me, we're looking forward to the second round as well. This round is goona be very important, it's getting tight at the top now and if you don't get a good round now, it's gonna be hard in the last one, so I'm gonna work to stay sharp and have a good one i Daugavpils - Michelsen ended.
