In 1977 in Pair World Championships he won bronze medal together with Hans Wassermann in Manchester. Six years later he became the best rider in the world after winning in Norden with a maximum. He says honestly that he still rides a speedway bike every week. How is Egon Muller these days?
- Young boys, who learn speedway, often pull over of a track and tell me: “Coach, but I can’t ride faster…”. I tell them to give me a bike and I show that they can. I’ve always been like that and I’m still the same. Everything is possible. I am simple happy with life, every day and every moment with youth. – says Egon Muller.
Although German has ended his career, he is still close to speedway. In the past he was taking care of Tomasz Gollob’s engines. Muller doesn’t hide that he is waiting for his successor. He strongly belives that it will be Martin Smolinski.
- Martin started his career in really difficult times and I am his mentor. I have prepared him two engines, I have made that he has got his self confidence. If you want, you can. I proved it one day. Now Martin will prove it. He is still young and many starts in the future. – continues Muller.
