This year's TAURON SEC series promises to be extremely exciting. One of the reasons is the very strong lineup, which will begin the battle for the title of Individual European Champion in Debrecen. Who should the fans keep an eye on? We present five interesting names.
Mikkel Michelsen
The Dane should never be underestimated in the TAURON SEC. The Dane is one of the most effective riders in the history of the cycle, averaging more than 11 points per round. Michelsen has already shown many times this season that he can race at the highest possible level. In May, he won his first FIM SGP round, further boosting his performance. The track in Debrecen is familiar to him, as he has already raced on it this year. To defend his title, he needs a strong start to the cycle.
Anders Thomsen
This rider is returning to the TAURON SEC after five years break. Thomsen is a top-tier rider, as evidenced by his results this year in both individual and team competitions. He is certainly a contender for the title this year. An advantage for Thomsen is his familiarity with the track in Debrecen. The Dane triumphed with a maximum of points in the TAURON SEC qualifying round held on the Hungarian track this year.
Andzejs Lebedevs
For the 2017 Individual European Champion, this is a breakthrough year. For the first time in history, the Latvian is a regular participant in the FIM Speedway Grand Prix. This year, he is the leader of his Polish team from Leszno and certainly hopes for high scores in TAURON SEC 2024 as well. Last year, after six years, he stood on the podium of the round in Güstrow. The track in Debrecen will not be a surprise for him. Lebedevs raced on it a month ago in the FIM SGP 2025 qualifications and performed very well, celebrating his advancement to the next phase.
Kacper Woryna
This is his fourth season as a regular participant in the TAURON SEC. His best season was in 2019 when he finished fourth in the cycle after a disastrous defect in the extra race for the bronze medal. This season, Woryna is performing at a high level, showing a lot of experience and a desire to improve. The last round of this year's cycle is being held in his region, so he will surely want to compete for his first championship medal at the Silesian Stadium. To achieve this, he needs a good start in Debrecen, which he is fully capable of.
Maciej Janowski
‘Magic’ returns to the Individual European Championships! The presence of the Pole in this year's cycle is a huge asset, and this will be evident in the first round in Debrecen. The winner of the SEC Challenge in Daugavpils is automatically one of the main contenders for the championship.
