Emil Sajfutdinow became European Champion 2014. Russian finished this what he started last year. Then after the two tournaments he had two victories and he was aiming at the gold medal. Unfortunately he got seriously injured which caused that the season ended for the rider from Bashkortostan.
Emil Sajfutdinow became the leader of Speedway European Championships series quite unexpectedly after the third round in Holsted. All fans were expecting another victory of Nicki Pedersen sealing of the gold medal of European championship but Dane’s worse day was used great by Russian and he caught many points.
It started quite average because in Gustrow, during the inauguration of the series Sajfutdinow didn’t qualify to the great final It was the result of the Peter Kildemand’s attack and meant that Russian wasn’t on the podium.
On Russian land in Togliatti, fans of Emil Sajfutdinow were wondering if he manage to repeat his last year score and win at the stadium named Anatolij Stiepanow. Everything was going really well until the great final. Then, the leading Sajfutdinow had to slow down and go to the park machine because the heat was stopped. In the re – run, Russian clearly overslept at the start and he didn’t manage to catch Nicki Pedersen, who was in a great disposition. As a result he wasn’t able to win again in his home country but taking points into consideration, it wasn’t so bad.
In Holsted, which was mentioned earlier, everything was perfect. Sajfutdinow not only won at Moldow Arena, but he main opponent as far as gold medal is concerned Nicki Pedersen was really bad and he even didn’t qualify to the last chance heat. Also in Częstochowa, at the end of the rivalry everything went well for the rider from the East. The maximum of fifteen points after the regular phase of the tournament caused that before the last heat Tomasz Suskiewicz’s ward could celebrate the gold medal. Everything was decided in the eighteenth heat when Peter Kildemand was attacking Emil and he hooked fence which caused that he fell on the track. Dane was excluded from the re – run and Sajfutdinow fell into the arms of the people from his team and celebrated winning of European Champion title.
However the tournament ended quite unlucky for the Russian because when he was second he didn’t master his bike and fell. Fortunately nothing wrong happened apart from abrasions and bruises. However the fact that he was excluded caused that he was absent on the podium of the last tournament.
Sajfutdinow finished what he started last season. He dedicated gold medal of European championship to his deceased father and next year he would like to defend the title and put his name again in the history of European championship.
