After 15 years, grand speedway is coming back to Chorzów. On September 15th, on modernized Śląski Stadium, fans will see the best riders from the Europe again. Furthermore, the continent champion will emerge there. Then, that special place for Polish speedway will be the host of Speedway Euro Championship cycle grand final. Tickets are on sale now!
Except international competitions, Śląski Stadium was host of Golden Helmet tournament. The part of meeting in 1972 was Marek Cieślak, Polish National Team coach, who remembers it very well.
- The idea of speedway coming back on Śląski Stadium is more than good. That place has a huge history. Among others, Jerzy Szczakiel won first Polish individual championship there in 1973 and only Tomasz Gollob in 2010 was able to repeat that. Also, I have a lot of good memories connected with that place. In 1972 I won Golden Helmet there by beating Śląsk Świętochłowice legend, Paweł Waloszek. Then, racing with 100 thousands people on the stands was amazing experience – said Marek Cieślak.
