Krzysztof Kasprzak became the winner of Speedway Euro Championship Final Round, which was taken in Lublin. However, "KK" didn't manage to defend bronze medal, which he reached for, one year back. This time, he was 4th.
Polish rider started the meeting well - after three series of starts, he had 8 points, which made him a leader of the night. In his fourth start, Kasprzak had a bad-looking crash. On the second corner of third lap, "KK" significantly widened his line, which made him hit the fence.
- I was doing well until this crash. It got me scared a bit, because once again, I hit my collarbone, which had been broken numerously. I knew I had to get at least two points to go straight to the final. I was fastest than Michael Jepsen Jensen, got a bit too wide and after 15 heats, surface there was grippy - it "caught" my wheel and motorcycle got out of my hands. Big thanks to all the doctors, who has always been bringing me back to shape - Kasprzak said.
Krzysztof Kasprzak starte this year's Individual European Championion as bronze medalist. Rounds in Toruń and Güstrow confirmed his aspirations to defend this position. However, round in Hallstavik caused that Kasprzak had to postpone his plans about medal for the next year.
- I knew that only a direct promotion to SEC 2018 can save this season for me. I was fighting for it until the very last heat. I lost many points in Hallstavik, where I was racing with collarbone's injury. Two first series - it looked good, but then my hand couldn't handle a load that this track made us carry. These five, six points were lacking when it comes to defend the medal. Congratulations to all the guys on the podium. I'm coming back next year to fight for the title.
This year's Speedway Euro Championship was fifth under One Sport's auspicies. Riders have been praising this formula and atmosphere in the pits.
- This is the Euro Championship - if you want to get into it, you have to fo through many qualification rounds. SEC brings a high level on both sport and organizational ground. Everybody's doing their job here - Kapsrzak ended.
