Nicolai Klindt is one of four Danes fighting for the gold medal of Individual European Championship 2017. For this rider, living in Wolverhampton, this year's edition will be his premiere to compete as a permanent participant of the series.
Nicolai Klindt was born on December 29, 1988 in Outrup (south Denmark) and started his speedway adventure from 50cc bikes. While being only 14, he became the world champion in U16 category. His first serious racing came when Klindt got 17 and successes appeared right away. In 2005, along with the Danish team, he got the bronze of Team Speedway Junior World Championship. One year later, he reached his first big individual trophy. It was 2006, when he won the U21 Danish Championship. Klindt's junior career was a series of successes, which was also confirmed by the gold medal of U19 Individual European Championship in 2007.
His senior career has been mainly based on team success. Klindt got 7 gold medals with his league clubs and this list includes 3 championships in Denmark, one in Poland, Sweden, Germany and Great Britain. His biggest success is probably silver medal of the Speedway World Cup, which he got along with the Danish team in Vojens (2010).
Rider from Outrup had a chance to compete in the "old" version of the European Championship. It was 2011 final in Ukrainian Rovne, won by Grigorij Laguta, with Klindt ending as 9th.
Dane's road to Speedway Euro Championship 2017 started in France. At the track in Lamothe-Landerron, he got 12 points and got through to the SEC Challnge. In Gorican, he started with a "zero", but then 3 wins came, which made Klindt reach the promotion to this year's European Championship series.
