Anders Thomsen is the biggest surprise of SEC 2016. Dane got into the line up of the biggest European names thanks to some luck. While standing under the tape of the last heat of SEC Challenge in Olching, he needed 3 points. The thing was, he had 3 riders fighting for this pass too - Artem Laguta, Fredrik Lindgren and Przemysław Pawlicki. Luckily for Thomsen, first two got excluded and Dane managed to defeat Pawlicki and with 8 points gathered, ended as 7th and got through to the SEC Finals.

Junior vice-champion of the world 2015 started the SEC series with 6 points in Guestrow. It was the first round, when he defeated such riders as Vaclav Milik, Antonio Lindbaeck or Andzejs Lebedevs. During the round in Daugavpils, Thomsen proved he can truly race speedway. His phenomenal action, thanks to which, he got through from 4th place to the 1st, made the fans go crazy. It was a great performance, however he was only one point away from the race-off heat...

In Russia, young Dane started really well - from a winning heat over Milik, Andersen and Kasprzak. Later on, however, it was way worse and the round was done for him with 5 points gathered. Despite that fact his chances for promotion to next year's cycle were not that little. It was enough to perform well in Rybnik, in the great final.

Here, unfortunately, a bad luck happened to Thomsen. In his first heat, he got a bad crash, after which, he was forced to withdraw from the meeting and his chances for a good result were crossed.

Ultimately, he was 15th overall, but his style of racing and attitude will definitely bring big things in the future.
