Peter Ljung had been enjoying his promotion to the Speedway Euro Championship and announced fighting for a decent result in each round. However, he didn't follow this plan. This season was completely unsuccessful for the rider from Sweden.
In four rounds, Ljung got only one heat win and one second place. It happened in... two first heats of the Final Round in Rybnik. Later on, old demons came back and ultimately Ljung got 6 points.
In Güstrow, Peter Ljung was presented some stedy racing, but ended his heats only at the third position. It was not enought to think of a promotion to the race-off heat. Despite an ambitious attitude, Swede's equipment didn't work the way he wanted.
In Daugavpils, it was even worse. Only two points gathered and one defeated rival. That's far from being enough for the European Championship's class to think of some serious racing. Latvia was a complete disaster.
It was no better in Russia, though. It's worth mentioning that after 15 heats in SEC 2016, Peter Ljung had only third and fourth positions. Before the last round in Rybnik, he was losing even with Maxims Bogdanovs, who started in Daugavpils with the wild card.
After all, these two first heats in Rybnik cheered Swede up. Nevertheless, 16 points gathered doesn't make him proud of. Definitely it was not Peter Ljung's tournament. Who knows, maybe in the next season, Swedish rider will cope better?
