After ending the rivalry in Togliatti, Grigorij Laguta wasn't leaving the stadium for a long time. Supporters and friends did not let him do so. Everyone wanted to high five him or at least congratulate to the winner of Russian round of Speedway Euro Championship.
- I am really happy, but still not actually getting what's going on - said truly touched Grisha. - There were so many fans in Togliatti supporting us. It was something incredible. I would like to thank many people, but mostly to the team from Vladivostok, which brought my engines for the meeting in Togliatti. Big thanks also to Andzejs Lebedevs' mechanics, who brought some equipment from Latvia.
This equipment worked perfectly throughout the whole meeting. Laguta was getting points in every of his heat and only once, after fight with Krzysztof Kasprzak and Martin Vaculik ended the heat as third. It was the weakest heat of Russian rider. In the most important one - the final, Grisha's bikes were riding great. Russian was repelling attacks of as fast as him Antonio Lindbaeck.
- Antonio was really fast. He was right behind me, attacking all the time. At the last corner, I looked right and he was next to me - said Laguta. Earlier, it was similar. He was straightening his bike at the corners and was heading to the inside lane. I knew, he would do the same, so I blocked him. It was a shock. The moment I crossed the finish line, I could not hold my emotions. I started crying.
Thanks to a great performance in Togliatti, Antonio Lindbaeck became the new leader of overall classification. Laguta is currently 2nd.
- If I had started in the first round in Güstrow, it would be easier to fight for the medals - added Laguta, who skipped the inauguration because of his hand's injury. - I can't complain, though, I am second in the overall classification and in the last round I will be attacking leader's position. After all, I'm just 2 points away.
Just to remind, we will know the best European riders on September 17 in Rybnik. It is going to be some extraordinary show.
