In this season, riders starting with a wild card have been doing really good so far. First, we had Kai Huckenbeck taking the third place in Güstrow and now, Maksims Bogdanovs was very close to repeating this success in Daugavpils.
Latvian was riding great from the very beginning of the meeting, had some fabolous passes on the distance. Rider starting in Lokomotive Daugavpils admitted that he is satisfied with the 4th place, even though he was very close to the rostrum.
- It was a very good meeting, up until the last heat. Fourth place is a great result, but I do feel insufficiency. I could be standing on this podium.
Noone knows, how would the great final end for him if not for the serious crash. While attacking Emil Sayfutdinov, Bogdanovs fell at the track. The whole situation looked dangerous, but luckily nothing serious happened to Latvian.
- I was racing hard with Emil Sayfutdinov. I was very close, but then Emil went the left way and I got into his back wheel. I had some luck that nothing serious had happened.
Right after the meeting, though, Bogdanovs was full of joy, which only confirms that this crash did not impress him that much.
- In Russia, we have this saying that when you wake up in the morning, have hands and legs, it means that it is ok and you are alive (laugh). That is exactly the same with me.
