The only Latvia's representative in Speedway Euro Championship - Andzejs Lebedevs - ended 7th in the first round in Güstrow. He's still in touch with the top positions though and in the next round - in Daugavpils, he should be fighting for the top.

- In Guestrow I failed at the beginning. Even before the first heat, I made a mistake, I chose the wrong bike. That's where this 'zero' came from. - Latvian explained. I made a quick correction and got the right setup and everything went the right way.
In the second series of starts, Lebedevs came behind the back of so fast on that day Krzysztof Kasprzak, but later he won the star-studded heat no.11, when he overtook Leon Madsen and Nicki Pedersen.

It was an important win, I defeated some great riders. It put some faith in me that I can compete with the best. What more can i say? Hard work pays off - Latvian smiled.

Ultimately, in Guestrow, Lebedevs ended at the 7th place and did not go through to the race-off heat. However, he's only losing four points to the leader - Martin Vaculik, mostly thanks of the fact that weather crossed the plans and there was no final heat.

Despite the rain in Guestrow, we had a lot of good racing. Weather made the happy end unable to happen. Boys did not race in the final, but the decision of stoppin the meeting was right - Latvian rider added, called by his friends 'Pajaja'.

On August 6th, in his hometown - Daugavpils, second final of the Speedway Euro Championship will be held. Latvian's already been waiting for this meeting.
- We will keep on working, to perform as good as possible at our home. From one point of view it will be a meeting like any other, but on the other side, it will be a special round for me - says 22-year-old rider. - Of course, it's different to race in front of your home crowd. Nevertheless, I will be concentrated like on all the other SEC stages. I have to gather precious points to end the rivalry at the highest possible position at the end of the season.
