Interview with Krzysztof Kasprzak, one of three Polish representatives in the Speedway Euro Championship, starting on July 16 in Güstrow.
This is your debut in the Speedway Euro Championship as a permanent participant, but as we know you, you probably have some ambitious goals.
Exactly. It can be no different. For me, there's one aim. I'm going to fight for the podium, not only in Güstrow, but the whole SEC.
Your experience from SEC may not be that big, but it's top quality. You do know the taste of win in one of the SEC rounds.
That's true. I've performed in one meeting, but I have some great memories. In Gorican, the round went great for me. I ended as the first. I remember that in the final, there were three Poles starting and I managed to win the battle with Sebastian Ułamek. Just to remind: I was the European Champion 13 years ago (in a one day tournament in Slany; Kasprzak got the win in the additional heat after winning with Sławomir Drabik - editiorial note). I just hope to have some good racing in this year too. I'm fighting for the European Championship's medals!
Since your win in the Individual European Championship, many has changed in this tournament. What's your opinion on innovations brought by the One Sport company - SEC organizer?
Guys are doing a great job. It's great that this meeting is broadcasted by the Eurosport company. There's a great line up, that wasn't happening few years back. What's more, European Championship gained a proper prestige.
This year's cycle will visit Güstrow, Daugavpils, Togliatti and Rybnik. What's your opinion on these tracks?
Haven't been there many times, but I got some good memories from Daugavpils. I won one of the Grand Prix rounds in Latvia, so I'm glad to have another chance to compete there. Güstrow and Togliatti will be new places for me, but also the ones that can give me new experiences. I know that the track in Güstrow is wide, good for fight and hopefully - safe. I'm expecting some good racing.
Let's go back to the SEC Challenge, which you won. In this meeting, you confirmed that your high form is back.
Meeting in Olching was a tough one, so even more I'm happy with promotion. Aim number one was the advance. Winning this tournament and listening to the national anthem was a great bonus for me and a huge pleasure. I hope it'll be similar in the Speedway Euro Championship.
