Two years ago, the first round of rivalry to become the European Champion was held at this German track. Can the scores from this meeting have a reflection in the current one? Who would be the main favourite of SEC 2016 inauguration?
Meeting in Guestrow from 2 years back was one of the most interesting in the whole cycle. Part of this line up will come to Germany again. Series consists of four rounds again, so just like then, a good performance in the inauguration can "set" the riders in the line for the title.
In this round, starting the fight for the medals, Nicki Pedersen took the win. He got 14 points and in the final, he defeated his countryman Peter Kildemand and Poles: Janusz Kołodziej and Tomasz Gollob. Ultimately, these three riders got themselves into the TOP5 overall that consists earlier thesis. Moreover, Kildemand and Pedersen got silver and bronze. That confirms the fact how important is the first meeting for the ultimate classification.
Out of mentioned Poles, we will see Kołodziej on July 16, who got his spot in SEC 2016 thanks to his 5th location in 2015. What's interesting, he got this place twice (2014 and 2015). Thanks to the equal form throughout the whole season, "Koldi" didn't have to wait for the organizers' decision of giving the wild cards. His place lets him stand as the best Pole in the history of reformed European Championship (since 2013).
Next to the triple Individual Polish Champion, the white and red fans will also see Krzysztof Kasprzak and Przemysław Pawlicki. Riders from Stal Gorzów have been presenting a good and equal form. Especially Kasprzak proves that last year's issues are behind him and finally recalls the rider, who became the vice-champion of the world two years back. "Kasper" knows the triumph's taste in the SEC round (won in Gorican in 2013 while starting with the wild card). Surely, he would like to remind these moments and be back on the podium again, this time overall.
How do the others do, though? Kildemand and Gollob are not on the starting list. However, the triple World Champion has been having some equipment issues and mixes good performances with some poorer ones. Knowing Dane's ambitions, though, it's more than sure that he'll want to start the European Championship with a strong accent and join the fight for the medals. Kołodziej, as in every year, holds his good disposition at the league's tracks and is his team's leader. Surely, fans in Poland count on his good performance and improving the overall score.
