Until implementing the new formula of Individual European Championship, which is till 2013, Poland was first in the overall medal classification. Since it has been changed and significantly strenghtened, the white and red have got a problem with reaching any medal. The best among Poles is so far Janusz Kołodziej, who has secured his spot in SEC twice. Unfortunately, each time, it was a fight for survival, not for the podium stand.
In the history of European Championship, Poland has got 13 medals, but from 2013, none of the Poland's representatives finished in the TOP 3 of overall classification. What's more, it was only Janusz Kołodziej, who as a permanent SEC participant stood at the podium in single rounds. That thing happened twice: in the inaugural round of SEC 2014 (Güstrow) and final round of SEC 2015 (Ostrów Wielkopolski).
Except Kołodziej, there were more Poles in the series starting as the permanent riders: Tomasz Gollob, Patryk Dudek, Adrian Miedziński, Maciej Janowski, Sebastian Ułamek, Tomasz Jędrzejak, Piotr Protasiewicz and Przemysław Pawlicki. None of them though was able to stand at the podium of Speedway Euro Championship. Definitely, Tomasz Gollob was the closest one to reach that (2013), however a serious injury prevented him from starting in the last round in Rzeszów, what made reaching the medal unavailable.
The only Pole, who won the single SEC round was a wild card holder in Gorican (2013), Krzysztof Kasprzak. Poles are still waiting for their first medal in reformed European Championship. For their potential joy though, they need to wait at least till the next season.
