Organizers of the Speedway Euro Championship officially announced location of the first SEC round in 2016. Best European riders will start their battle for the title in German Güstrow. Meeting will be held on July 16, 2016.
Güstrow was a host city for the top European riders in 2014, when SEC was inaugurated as well. Then, Nicki Pedersen ended at the top. In past season, in Güstrow, round of Speedway Best Pairs Cup took place and then, Team Russia grabbed the first place.
MC Güstrow is a club with 50-year old traditions. What's interesting, local track is made of slag, which is really rare nowadays. It's 298 metres long and Piotr Protasiewicz is the rider, who holds the track record. It's a difficult, technical oval, where most of the heats are sealed at the very last meters.
- Germany is a country with huge potential, when it comes to speedway - we've experienced it by organizing meetings here for the last two years. People want speedway here, and we along with MC Güstrow want to give them an opportunity to participate in some great events live. Recent tournaments showed that in Güstrow there's always a great atmosphere, so we're coming back there with our cycle having a huge joy - said representatives of One Sport company.
What's more, German city signed the three-year deal with One Sport! It means that in upcoming years 2016-2018, fans in Güstrow will be witnessing speedway meetings at the highest level.
Torsten Jürn (MC Güstrow), representing organizers' side was also full of joy after signing the deal.
- I’m delighted that we have come to this agreement. The SEC has become a premium event in the last couple of years since it has been promoted properly. Both meetings we organized with OneSport have been a major success and highlights the history of our club. We have seen fantastic sport in a great atmosphere. The attendance figures in the past showed us that our passionate fans are hungry for more and I’m happy the they will get to see world class Speedway again in 2016 and beyond. We will start the tickets sales very soon and right in time before Christmas.
