On September 19th, 2014 in Czestochowa, Emil Sayfutdinov had risen hands up in a gesture of triumph. Then on his neck hung a gold medal for winning the Individual European Championship. A year later, the Russian counts on repeat, this time in Ostrow Wielkopolski.
All previous rounds assure that Sayfutdinov is not is at the first place in the general classification of SEC series by some kind of accident. During the inaugural event at MotoArena in Torun, Russian was undefeated in his first five starts and easily won with every rival. Unluckily, the only defeat he suffered in the final, where he was beaten by Nicki Pedersen and Paweł Przedpełski.
In Landshut he began slightly worse to spin out over the competition. Eventually, he entered the finals, in which he won with no trouble. After two tournaments, Emil had two points of advantage over his most dangerous rival from Denmark.
Kumla, however, proved to be an ideal place for Emil Sayfutdinov who was in excellent form. A maximum of 18 points and a phenomenal ride made the "Russian torpedo" on the verge of defending the title. Nine points ahead of Nicki Pedersen makes the rider of Bashkortostan accede to the Grand Finale of Speedway European Championships in Ostrow Wielkopolski without the pressure and with large inner peace. Will, exactly a year after winning the championship, Sayfutdinov defend the gold medal? We'll see that soon!
