Over 5 million people in Europe have watched speedway tournament of Speedway Best Pairs Cup in Torun! The first tournament of this year Speedway Best Pairs series, which was organized on Motoarena in Torun, was really exciting for the viewers of Eurosport. Spectacular rivalry, in which Australia beat Denmark and Poland, was interesting for viewers in Poland and abroad. The scope of the transmission in Europe was over 5 million people (5 100 000) from which 625 thousands were in Poland [1].
The tournament, which was the opening of speedway season, was watched average by 860 thousand viewers in Europe and by 218 thousand [2] in Poland. On the top moment the transmission from Torun was followed by 625 thousand people in our country. Eurosport doesn’t have the scores from countries of Asia and Pacific where it was also broadcasted.
- Viewership of the first speedway transmission this season shows that fans have been waiting for the rivalry on the highest level and this could be seen in Torun. That’s a good omen before another speedway transmissions which will be shown in Eurosport in 2014. It will be another rounds of Speedway Best Pairs Cup, Elitserien and Speedway European Championships – says Radek Jaworski, the director of communications department at Eurosport Poland.
- It was successful inauguration on a beautiful Motoarena. Fans, who have been waiting for speedway for the whole winter, had the first possibility to see their idols and the starting list was really attractive. We are happy because of such viewership. We believe that fans, both on a stadium and in front of TVs, will support us also during another rounds in Landschut (Germany, 10th May) and Eskilstuna (Sweden, 23rd May), where also the best pairs in the world will show up – adds Jan Konikiewicz from One Sport – the organizer of Speedway Best Pairs Cup series.
