Eurosport Speedway Best Pairs tournament is getting closer. The event with seven international teams will take place on 8th June on Toruń's Motoarena. The rivalry of the Americans, Australians, Czechs, Danes, Poles, Russians and Swedes will be broadcasted live in 71 countries, thanks to Eurosport TV station.
Speedway wasn't often presented so far on this most popular and biggest european sport TV station. It will change in 2013. Beside Eurosport Speedway Best Pairs we'll be able to see "live" four tournaments of Individual Europe Championships.
- We believe in this sport and we believe that it's worth showing on Eurosport - thinks managing director of Eurosport Polska, Krzysztof Świergiel. - Our station reaches 131 millions households. We give the organizers also our multimedia platform. We're big company and we want to support the organizers of Individual Europe Championships and become an important partner of this sport.
The premiere dish of speedway in 2013 on Eurosport will be international pair tournament. - Competition on Toruń's Motoarena will be commented by our journalists Andrzej Mielczarek and Jakub Pieczatowski - reveals Editor - in chief of the station Adam Widomski. - They both have a lot of experience, they know and understand this sport. Our reporter will work in the park of motorcycles, but there won't be a studio before and after competition. The event will be shown in 70 countries, so logistically and technically it would be very complicated project.
It's known that during breaks between the heats we'll hear the interviews with the riders. It will be made by Jan Staechmann. This former danish rider, the competitor of the first ever Grand Prix cycle in 1995 have an experience with television.
- For a few years I was a member of a team working with transmissions from GP and Team World Cup - says Staechmann. - I was a commentator of this competitions unlike in the event in Toruń. Beside that I was performing as a speedway expert in TV and radio programmes. New journalistic challenge is before me now. I will make interviews with speedway riders for the first time in my life during the speedway tournament. I can't wait.
After career ending Staechmann became a trainer-manager. In 2006 he managed Denmark to gold in Team World Cup. Now 47 years old Dane is working in Elite League club - Peterborough Panthers. - I wasn't thinking long when One Sport company offered me to work with them with events which they are working for in this year - says Staechmann. - I agreed right away. I think that bringing back international pair riding is a fantastic thing, like giving more prestige to Individual Europe Chamionships, which weren't very appreciated by riders until now. I am sure that it will change this year.
Eurosport Speedway Best Pairs tournament will start on saturday 8th June at 7pm.
