The symbol of Polish speedway Tomasz Gollob assured that he will start in Speedway European Championships this season with the number #20. Pole explains that he has chosen that number as a form of respect for one of the best Polish football players current president of Polish Football Association Zbigniew Boniek.
- I was born in Bydgoszcz. This is also the home city of one of the best Polish players Zbigniew Boniek. As a form of respect for him I want to start in European Championships next season with number #20. “Twenty” is the number, which Zbigniew Boniek had during the match witch Belgium during the World Cup in Spain in 1982 and he scored then three goals. He has been my idol since I remember and I want to emphasize once more that I respect him very much. That’s why I’m choosing #20."
The best Polish speedway rider in history likes the idea of choosing the numbers very much . – "That’s another good idea with will be refreshment for speedway. It’s very interesting idea which is accepted in other motor sports. I think that thanks to it fans will have the possibility to identify with us more than before and will associate us with particular number which are in some way important for us. "
