Eurosport has been transmitting all tournaments of Speedway European Championships since signing the deal with One Sport in 2013. Taking the time into consideration Polish Director of Communication in Eurosport told us about his impressions concerning last season and mentioned also about future plans.
“At this moment our impressions are only positive because, as we thought, the whole tournament had very big audience in Polish Eurosport. However, what was most surprising, speedway was watched almost all over the world. In such case our impressions can be only positive. We are aware of the fact that this project has a big potential and we want to use it in 2014.
Before the first tournament Polish fans were afraid of the attitude of the management of Eurosport in Paris. But, as the director Jaworski says, people in Paris were opened for new things. “For the management in Paris it was a new experience. Now it can be said that they are delighted by the level of realization, production and thanks to it opened for another speedway products”.
The real surprise for everybody were the results of audience. What’s more important, the most number of viewers (beside Poland) was in Germany. What is interesting, Radosław Jaworski says that he has some signals from Spain that there is interest in speedway. We want to remind that SEC was watched by 29 millions of viewers and according to the deal the station is showing speedway for another two years. It is possible that next season there will be more speedway events presented by Eurosport. “We have the deal with One Sport which is up to date for two years. We are going to fulfill it.” – end Jaworski.
“Last season was a big unknown. Nobody knew how it is going to be with the production and realization. Fortunately most things were done well. We are aware of the fact that not everything was perfect but we are doing everything to eliminate mistakes and to make another tournaments great for fans. We make a lot of new things like cameras GoPro thanks to which we want to make viewer closer to the riders” – says organizers from One Sport.
