Radoslaw Zielinski : Maciek , at the end of the season you won the gold medal in the colors of Poole Pirates . What kind of year was it for you?
Maciej Janowski :
Taking into account the results that I had this year , I can safely say that it was a very positive year .

RZ : Despite a good effort in the SEC you took fifth place and managed to also jump on the podium and keep you in the top . What do you think were the reasons behind that?
MJ :
Not all meetings went the way I hoped and that’s was why I finished where I did. Of course I wanted to show what I am capable of, but it wasn’t bad overall.

RZ : It was your first year as a senior rider. What is the difference between senior and junior?
MJ
: It depends on the approach to the rider. One is easier, the other more difficult. Generally, the difference in the number of tournaments, because chess players always have more, but I think you get used to it and achieve good results.

RZ : The start of season we didn’t see your best performance. In time, however, you made considerable progress. What was the reason?
MJ :
My team and I made a few changes to the equipment, some components, we started getting improvements with motors , set ups. Consequently, the second part of the season was better for me .

RZ : How would you rate the new look SEC tournament?
M.J :
complete amateur! (laughs). But seriously, the entire formula was very positive. The Championship regained its former glory, everything was professionally organized. I am convinced that the SEC is a very good way to promote the shale sport.

RZ : What meetings do you think were the most interesting?
MJ
: For me, the most interesting was in Gdansk , although the national meeting of Golden Helmet I liked it (laughs) .

RZ : Was it a big surprise to you that Martin Vaculik won the title by?
MJ
: Sure it was little surprising, but Martin rode brilliantly in Rzeszow and deservedly won the title . There were also a lot of injuries, so for sure he wasn’t the favourite, but he won and should be applauded. He is still a very good rider.

R.Z : What is the European Champion like in private? You ride in the same team in Poland. What can you say about him?
M.J
: He is a good guy, very sympathetic and easy going.

RZ : Can we expect that you will line up next year to qualify for the SEC in 2014 ?
MJ :
To be honest, I will put pressure on the SEC bosses to get a wild card ( laughter ), but if that fails, I will definitely start in the qualifying rounds for next year's European Championship.

RZ : If you could choose the location where you would mostly "like to send" the SEC ?
MJ :
I don’t know, but Gniezno is a very nice town (laughs) .

R.Z : What are your plans for next year's club? (Mainly I ask about Poland and Sweden)
MJ
: At the moment I go on vacation and don’t think about next season’s contracts. I need a well deserved rest.

RZ : What do you think, given an injury free run, who would have the best chance to win the SEC?
MJ
: Absolutely Tai Woffinden, he had an amazing season, everything came together, and had he not injured himself, he would have taken the SEC title in the last round.

RZ : And finally, would you like to say something to all the speedway fans?
M.J
: Greetings to all fans. I thank them for all their support in 2013 and I hope they will be with me next season.

R.Z : Thank you.
