From today, you can buy tickets for the inaugural round of the TAURON Speedway Euro Championship, which will take place on June 17 in Częstochowa. Tickets for the competitions in Güstrow and Pardubice are also on sale.
The TAURON Speedway Euro Championship is a four-round series of tournaments in which riders compete for the title of the best speedway rider on the Old Continent and for a permanent spot in the FIM Speedway Grand Prix 2024 series. Thanks to the TOP 5 places in last year competition, Leon Madsen, Janusz Kolodziej, Mikkel Michelsen, Patryk Dudek and Dominik Kubera are already in the lineup for 2023. The rest of the riders will fight for the remaining places during qualifying rounds, the final of which - the SEC Challenge - will be held on May 14 in Nagyhalasz.
The organizers decided that the first round of the series will be held in Częstochowa. The local venue hosted SEC series in 2014. That day, Grigory Laguta scored 17 out of a possible 18 points and won the meeting with an outstanding fashion. Fans gathered at the stands witnessed many overtakes, thanks to the myriad of fast tracks that make the Częstochowa's oval appreciated by both - riders and observers.
We already know that at least two riders of local Włókniarz - Leon Madsen and Mikkel Michelsen - will take part in the series. Both have reached the title of Individual European Champion twice, and their duels in the TAURON SEC series electrify fans all over Europe. What's more, the Danes are medallists of last year's competition. Madsen secured the gold in the last race of the entire series, in which he crossed the finish line just behind... Michelsen, who finished third overall thanks to his successful performance in Pardubice.
